Let a Thousand Flowers Blossom

It has been two years since we opened two ateliers in the spring of 2006 - one in Pyeongchang-dong and another in Jangheung after renovating an old motel -, and around 30 artists have worked actively in both studios. As for the studio of Paris Cite des Arts, it has been more than 10 years since the opening in 1996. In the meantime, Gana Art Gallery opened another Atelier in Busan along with a new gallery, and we are planning to open the New York Atelier and New York Gallery this March. We have high hopes for our New York branch to be a foundation for Korean artists to show their works to the world and to promote international communication among members of various art scenes.

After hosting 28 artists over three terms and presenting their works in this exhibition, the Pyeongchang-dong Gana Atelier will be closed for reorganization. Another Atelier with more convenient facilities will be opened in Jangheung, and we are now doing our utmost for a perfect studio.

This exhibition invited works of the last(3rd) term of the Pyeongchang Atelier artists and of the first term of the Jangheung Atelier artists and will be held not only in Seoul, but also in Busan with respect for the local art lovers. The works of the Atelier's artists will also be presented at the exhibition space in Cite des Arts in March to commemorate the past 10 years of the collaboration between the Cite des Arts and Gana Art Gallery, and to introduce Korean art to foreign art scenes more actively.

The year 2008 is also the 25th anniversary of Gana Art Gallery. There were difficult times, but enjoying artworks and discussing them was the joy that took our worries away. We will keep on supporting artists who are creators of our culture and run our Ateliers to enhance the quality of life.

It is said that 'when there is a beginning, there is an end'. At the end of the Pyeongchang Atelier, I would like to thank all the artists of the Pyeongchang and Jangheung Atlier, who have kept on creating great works and made the Atelier more prestigious.
Gana Art Gallery will do the best to continue being a good supporter of artists.
